Welcome to our website

KINTAIL Park Dohnes is a product of the Parsons family Kim, Colleen and son Rhys. We operate our stud, crop 2000 hectares and run a commercial flock of 3600 ewes.

Kintail Park Dohne stud was established in1999. We are situated at Jerramungup, WA on the South Coast Highway, 480km South East of Perth with an annual rainfall is 400mm, of which 90% falls between May to Novmber. We initially only produced enough rams to cater for our own commercial needs, by 2003 we were producing enough rams to hold our first sale. With our passion and enthusiasm for the Dohne Breed, our numbers are ever increasing, offering 90 rams at auction in 2010 and offering approximately 110 rams in the 2011 auction on the 4th of October.

Previously we have held a combined auction under the banner of the Jerramungup Dohne Breeders, 2010 saw Kintail Park hold its first on property sale, which was an outstanding success with a total clearance of rams offered.

The objective at Kintail Park is to breed sheep with even estimated breeding values, high early weaning and yearling weights with positive eye muscle, while still maintaining top quality wool. As can be viewed in the Dohne Genetic Trend graph, we are achieving these goals with great success. (for better viewing click on the graph below)

Early in the stud's development, we culled by the strictest guidelines for structural faults. We are now reaping the benefits of this by having very sound, plain bodied sheep.

The property runs a commercial flock of 3600 breeding ewes that are almost at pure bred status. We are now realising the many benefits of running a pure Dohne commercial flock. The ease of management, high fertility and general hardiness of the breed is resulting in increased dollar per hectare results for less time input.
